AC/DC: From Australian Rock Band to Global Legend
The story of AC/DC began in 1973 in Sydney, when brothers Angus and Malcolm Young decided to form their own rock band. The band quickly attracted public attention with its energetic sound, which combined elements of hard rock, blues rock, and classic rock and roll. Despite numerous musical descriptors, the members themselves always referred to their music simply as rock and roll. Over time, AC/DC became a major source of inspiration for many heavy metal artists and had a significant influence on the development of world rock.
The band's early years were marked by a search for the perfect lineup. After several lineup changes, the band released their debut album, High Voltage, which marked the beginning of AC/DC's meteoric rise. True success came in the late 1970s, when the band featured Angus and Malcolm Young, vocalist Bon Scott, bassist Cliff Williams, and drummer Phil Rudd. The albums Let There Be Rock and Highway to Hell made the band an international sensation.
In 1980, the band suffered a profound loss: Bon Scott passed away. However, the musicians decided to continue their creative journey and invited British vocalist Brian Johnson to join the band. His first album, Back in Black, dedicated to Scott's memory, became a worldwide phenomenon and became one of the best-selling music records of all time. Subsequent releases only cemented AC/DC's position as one of the world's leading rock bands.
Over the decades, the band experienced lineup changes, creative pauses, and new upswings. Albums like "The Razor's Edge," "Black Ice," and "Power Up" achieved significant success, confirming the band's appeal across generations of listeners. In 2003, AC/DC were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and their combined sales of recordings exceeded 200 million copies worldwide.
Today, AC/DC remains an icon of the global rock scene. Their concerts draw huge audiences, and their legendary compositions are regularly performed at the world's largest venues.
