AC/DC's Angus Young talks about the making of the hit "Highway To Hell"
The album Highway to Hell occupies an important place in the discography of the rock band AC/DC. It provided the Australian band with international success, hit the top 100 on the Billboard 200, went seven times platinum and was awarded a spot on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 greatest albums.
Angus Young said that the idea for the song "Highway To Hell" came to him while he was in the toilet. At that moment, Young was in a studio in Miami when the band was working on a new album. Then he rehearsed with his brother Malcolm and very quickly came up with the musical part of the track. However, words did not come so easily to him, so he decided to go to the toilet in search of inspiration. As a result, his brother immediately appreciated the idea and based on this phrase the musicians built a song. In addition, they decided to stretch it out a little for the sake of the chorus.
The song was released as the first single from the album Highway to Hell (1979). It was later included on the AC/DC Live album. It became the group's first track to hit the US charts.
